The HP Printer Install Wizard was a popular, legacy standalone software utility created by HP to automatically identify, download, and install the most up-to-date drivers for HP printers.

However, HP has officially retired the standalone Printer Install Wizard tool. It has been entirely replaced by modern, automated alternatives: HP Easy Start, the HP Smart App, and the Wireless Setup Wizard built right into your printer’s touchscreen.

Depending on your printer model, the official and safest ways to download and use the current versions of HP’s installation wizards can be found below.

Method 1: The Modern Software Wizard (HP Easy Start & HP Smart)

Instead of searching for old installation files, HP provides a “one-stop” digital wizard via their official setup page.

Download: Open your web browser and navigate directly to the official HP 123 Setup Page.

Run: The site automatically detects your operating system (Windows or macOS). Click Download to get HP Easy Start or the HP Smart App. Install: Open the downloaded .exe or .pkg file.

Connect: The on-screen wizard will launch. It will ask whether you want a wireless, Ethernet, or USB connection.
