Bluetooth File Transfer Not Working? Fix It Now Bluetooth file transfer failures usually happen due to missing pairing permissions, disabled background system services, or outdated device drivers. When a wireless transfer fails, Windows often displays errors like “Bluetooth file transfer not completed” or “Waiting for connection”. Whether you are moving photos from an Android phone to a laptop or sharing documents between PCs, you can resolve these connection drops quickly with a few targeted software adjustments. 1. Manually Trigger the Windows Transfer Window

Windows will block incoming Bluetooth files by default if the system is not actively expecting them.

Right-click the Bluetooth icon located in your Windows taskbar tray.

Select Receive a File from the context menu to open the “Waiting for a connection” window.

Initiate the transfer from your sending device while this window remains open on your PC.

Alternatively, you can open this interface instantly by pressing Win + R, typing fsquirt, and pressing Enter. 2. Restart the Bluetooth Support Service

If your computer detects your phone but the transfer immediately stalls, the core background service in Windows might be unresponsive.

Press Win + R ➔ Type “services.msc” ➔ Double-click “Bluetooth Support Service” ➔ Set Startup type to “Automatic” Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Scroll down and locate the Bluetooth Support Service. Right-click the service and select Properties. Change the Startup type dropdown menu to Automatic.

Click Stop, wait two seconds, and then click Start to refresh the process. Click Apply and hit OK. 3. Clear Mobile Bluetooth Cache

Corrupted temporary cache files on mobile hardware frequently cause pairing mismatches during file sharing tasks. Clean out the internal system storage on your phone to restore normal operations.

Android: Navigate to Settings > Apps > See all apps. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner and select Show system. Tap on Bluetooth, select Storage & cache, and tap Clear Cache.

iOS / General: Go to your Bluetooth menu, tap the information (i) icon next to your computer’s name, select Forget This Device, and repair the links from scratch. 4. Reconfigure Advanced Sharing Settings

Strict default operating system encryption rules can drop incoming file streams originating from older smartphones or third-party operating systems.
