A UDP Tester (or UDP test tool) is any software utility or command-line program used to diagnose, benchmark, and verify User Datagram Protocol (UDP) network traffic.
Unlike TCP, which uses a reliable “three-way handshake” to establish connection status, UDP is a connectionless protocol that sends data packets without verifying if they reached the destination. Because of this stateless design, traditional tools like telnet cannot test UDP. A UDP tester is essential for determining if a firewall is blocking traffic, if a port is listening, or how many packets are getting lost across the network. Key Functions of a UDP Tester
