However, HP has officially retired the standalone Printer Install Wizard tool. It has been entirely replaced by modern, automated alternatives: HP Easy Start, the HP Smart App, and the Wireless Setup Wizard built right into your printer’s touchscreen.

Method 1: The Modern Software Wizard (HP Easy Start & HP Smart)

Instead of searching for old installation files, HP provides a “one-stop” digital wizard via their official setup page.

Download: Open your web browser and navigate directly to the official HP 123 Setup Page.

Run: The site automatically detects your operating system (Windows or macOS). Click Download to get HP Easy Start or the HP Smart App. Install: Open the downloaded .exe or .pkg file.

Connect: The on-screen wizard will launch. It will ask whether you want a wireless, Ethernet, or USB connection.

Detect: Do not plug in a USB cable until the wizard explicitly tells you to do so. The application will scan your network, find your printer, and pull the exact drivers required. Method 2: The Hardware Wizard (Wireless Setup Wizard)
